Ilaje Regional Development Committee

Chairman's Welcome Message

Welcome to the official website of Ilaje Regional Development Committee (IRDC). This is a complement of Ilaje RDC Newsletter. Being an online medium, I will use this opportunity to first of all thank the almighty God for His mercy, protection and guidance throughout the conception of the idea of this website to implementation. I am indeed grateful to His Excellency, Governor Olusegun Mimiko and his cabinet for their unswerving support and commitment to efforts aimed at bringing sustainable development to Ilaje land and Ondo State in general. I must also acknowledge the support and cooperation of the Olugbo of Ugboland; His imperial majesty Oba (Dr.) F.E.O. Akinruntan (JP), The Okoro Ajiga I, our Baales and other revered traditional rulers.

My appreciation also goes to my colleagues in the Executive Council of Ilaje RDC , representatives of all RDC Communities and special acknowledgement for the support given to me and the council by the various working committees of the GMoU such as: Projects Review Committee (PRC), Community Engagement Management Board (CEMB) and others. Without the support of these committee members, we would not have come to this appreciable height of implementing the noble aims of the GMoU by bringing unprecedented sustainable development to the RDC communities. Through partnership with Chevron Nigeria Limited, the communities determine what they want right from project planning and design, to execution and implementation.

We also want to use this medium to express immense gratitude to Chevron Nigeria Limited for availing us the opportunity and for continuous and prompt funding of the RDC. I should at this point congratulate Mr. Douglas Ibigo, out Team Lead for this tireless effort and inestimable contribution to the strengthening of the governance model and implementation of 2013 projects of the committee. While we appeal to NDDC, the State and OSOPADEC to please come to our aid and assist by taking over some prime projects in the CDP (Community Development Plan) like roads, electricity, embankment and reclamation, employment etc. as the needs of our people are many. I implore Chevron Nigeria Limited to increase the funding level to enable us carry out more projects.

Philemon Ebiesuwa was nominated as the 1st Chairman of the Council in 2005. He occupied the position till 2010 when Hon. Raphael Nomiye took over but after he contested and won election to the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency; I, Prince Jackson Nomiye was nominated by Molutehin community to continue and complete the unexpired tenure of 4years; which slot was given to Molutehin community. Since I took over the mantle of leadership, It has not been without challenges, most particularly the internal leadership crisis, predicated on the unclarified and ambiguous status of the GMoU communities. This led to unbridled ambition, agitation and litigation, which by the Grace of God is winding down now. We have conceded additional executives slots to some communities, while, we reduce existing and new committees to accommodate more members including women.

It is our view that this part of the GMoU will attract critical appraisal by Chevron Nigeria Limited to reflect stakeholders' expectation in the next GMoU.

Finally, I wish to passionately appeal to all stakeholders and partners in the GMoU to live up to their roles in fast tracking development in Ilaje RDC communities.

You can use the menu bar above or use the links below to navigate this website.

Thank you.

Prince Jackson Nomiye
Chairman, Ilaje RDC.
